Train Beer: our partnership with Donzoko Brewing Company

Have you tried our vegan-friendly Train Beer?

PublishBlogs 24 Oct 2024

Lumo has now been in partnership with Newcastle-founded Donzoko Brewing Company since May 2023 to launch our very own ‘Train beer’ – a dry-hopped pale ale with notes of peach, pine, and gooseberry. And, what’s even better, it’s completely vegan! Served in an eco-friendly printed 330 mil sleek can, our Train beer is available in all our services and LumoEats, and it complements our 50% plant-based food and drinks offer onboard.

This partnership is part of our ongoing efforts to engage more deeply with the communities that we serve. Working with independent local businesses such as Donzoko, allows us to introduce more local flavours into our menu, while ensuring the quality and authenticity of our products.

about Donzoko Brewing Company

The brewery takes its name from the Japanese “donzoko”, which means “rock bottom”. It was first founded in 2017 in Hartlepool by Reece Hugill, Donzoko relocated briefly to Edinburgh before returning to its Northern roots in Newcastle. Now situated in Ouseburn, the brewery is open Thursday through Sunday, serving a range of innovative German-inspired lagers, including our own Train Beer!

Train Beer has been brewed as a collaboration between Donzoko Brewing Company and Lumo and it’s available on all Lumo services or directly from the brewery. It’s a 4.5% session-strength East Coast Pale ale and crafted with Nelson Sauvin and Mosaic hops. Fermented with Donzoko’s house lager yeast, it is crisp and refreshing—the perfect treat for your train journey!
